Travel & Accommodation Support Fund

Applications Open on 1st August 2023 at 9am.

Deadline:  Last day of the academic year in Semester 2 or until funds are available in accordance with the budget. The hardship fund is limited by the total size of the budgeted funds. It is allocated on a first come, first served basis.


A financial contribution to help towards the cost of travel expenses to and from Futureworks for your timetabled study, additional use of facilities or additional academic support; for example, train, tram or bus tickets. 

This fund may also be used for those who are struggling with accommodation costs. 

If you are applying for travel costs, please provide as much information as you can about the costing of a ticket for train/bus/tram.  

If you are applying for accommodation costs, please explain what this money would be used for specifically. 

What can you apply for: 

  • train, tram or bus tickets 
  • accommodation costs: rent and deposit payments 

Funding amount:  

Up to £500 paid directly to you or a travel ticket 

Eligibility: 

  • fully enrolled at Futureworks 
  • self-declared as one or more of the declared underrepresented groups

Process:

Applications will be reviewed & approved by the Access & Participation Steering Group panel. 

All applications will be anonymised prior to the panel review. In arriving at its decisions, the panel will use a points system with applicants receiving points for each underrepresented group of which they have self-declared. Applicants who fall into multiple categories will receive three points for each category. 

Applicants will be weighted according to their total scores, and they will be considered by the panel in order of weighting. In arriving at their decisions, the panel will judge the motivation and potential of the applicant through reference to their personal statement required as part of the application process. 

You will be informed of the outcome of your application within 10 working days.  

Please do not assume that an application will be successful, nor anticipate any amount that may be received, as awards are discretionary and not guaranteed.
