Course Spotlight – BA (Hons) Post Production for Film & TV

Post Production is the final, often most creative stage, of the filmmaking process, and it can make a good film or TV show great. If you choose to work as an Editor, then ultimately, it’s your version that hits the screen.

So, why choose to study post production with Futureworks?

Developed in consultation with industry, the Futureworks BA (Hons) Post Production for Film & TV is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and techniques required to succeed as a post-production specialist. Modern post-production is so much more than just editing. It is about everything that comes before, and with both our schools of Film, Television & Media, and Sound and Music Production crammed with passionate students and industry-active tutors, it places you at the heart of a vibrant, creative, and collaborative learning environment.

All Futureworks tutors have industry experience working on feature films, television, documentaries, commercials, corporate films, and more, and most are actively involved in ongoing ‘real-world’ projects. All are professionals who have ‘been there’ and ‘done that,’ they call upon their experience and up-to-date knowledge to keep course content lively, exciting, and industry relevant. Futureworks tutors provide a rounded, vocational education that equips you for a Post Production career. They have extensive industry contacts and invite them to give guest lectures and constructive critiques and provide networking opportunities, enabling you to gain a foothold in the industry before you graduate.

Our links with industry also mean you will get the opportunity to work on live projects while you’re a student. We don’t do work placements. Instead, you’ll be working as part of a team on real-life jobs such as TV ads, documentaries, online content, feature films, TV shows, and more. Our partner organisations are always handing us live briefs and if you want to be a part of them, the opportunity is there for you.

You will collaborate on joint projects with fellow students from other degree courses such as Visual EffectsFilmmaking, and Audio. Learning skills from peers and tutors, understanding their roles within the filmmaking process, and working closely together are essential. Encouraging cross-course integration makes Futureworks unique and vocationally relevant. Technical and creative individuals collaborating under one roof mirrors the media industry you’ll work in once you graduate. Recently, over 50 Futureworks students have produced their own feature film, financed by Futureworks alongside a Kickstarter campaign and directed by the course leader.

You’ll graduate with an industry-recognised degree, a robust portfolio of work, and a showreel focused on equipping you for a career in post-production, ensuring you hit the ground running post-graduation. We also provide all graduates with up-to-date alumni resources to support them with continued training, career guidance, job opportunities, and ongoing support throughout their careers.
