On the 9th of June, Futureworks held our annual School of Art & Design Degree Show, acknowledging the hard work of our newest graduates! The evening was a huge success. Friends and family gathered together to celebrate our student’s creativity and dedication to their projects, complete with a prosecco reception.
The graduates showcased a diverse range of high-quality work at the Art & Design Degree show, from video games, character design and environment art to 3D models, animation and illustration. It was a very impressive set of displays and a testament not only to our fantastic students, but also to the support and expertise of our tutors. Their knowledge and experience within the industry no doubt played a big part in providing the skills and technical knowledge needed to channel the students’ creativity into functional, top quality projects.
We couldn’t be any prouder of our students themselves. It takes a lot of time, effort and persistence to create work of such quality. It was clear that they really enjoyed not only showing off their own projects, but also the opportunity to see what their fellow students had been working on. This resulted in a lovely, open and supportive environment in which work of all styles, genres and mediums was equally acknowledged and celebrated.
Futureworks Head of School of Art & Design, Ken Lau thoroughly enjoyed the event:
“The 2023 Futureworks School of Art & Design degree took place at our regular venue, Hemsley House in Salford, and it was a tremendous success.
Both family visitors and industry guests were deeply impressed by the exceptional quality of the displayed work. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance and support of our dedicated teaching team across the whole of the School of Art & Design. They have been instrumental in the students’ success. The fact that all of our tutors have industry experience has made a significant difference.
Of course, credit must also be given to the students themselves for their unwavering dedication and hard work. I couldn’t be prouder of their remarkable achievements, and it was evident that they thoroughly enjoyed engaging with our guests during the event.
We were excited to have the opportunity to connect with the friends and family of our graduates, as well as welcoming tutors from Burnley College, industry guests and alumni from the games industry who were there actively in search of promising new talent. In fact, I’m thrilled to share that two of our graduates have already secured jobs in the industry. One has landed a role as a 3D character artist and the other as a concept artist. It’s worth noting that they secured these positions independently, outside of the degree show.
As we eagerly anticipate further updates, we remain hopeful for more success stories of graduates landing job opportunities directly through the degree show. So, stay tuned for future developments!”
It’s great to hear that our graduates are already being snapped up, fresh out of Futureworks! We wish every one of them the absolute best of luck, and we’ll definitely be back with updates on the brilliant things they will no doubt go on to achieve in their creative careers.
