1. Band on the Wall
Band on the Wall has been a place where people have met, exchanged stories and ideas, debated politics, espoused philosophy and drank and danced until the early hours. Today it’s owned and operated by Inner City Music, but Band on the Wall can trace its roots back as far as 1803. 2. The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM)
Founded in 1973 through the merger of the Royal Manchester College of Music and Northern School of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) is continually recognised as one of the world’s most forward-thinking conservatoires. Housing a fully-equipped Theatre and Concert Hall, the RNCM is one of the UK’s busiest live music venues.
3. Manchester Academy
Manchester Academy has been showcasing bands and musicians since 1963. Comprising of four venues, it has hosted a who’s who of worldwide talent including ACDC, Blue Oyster Cult, David Bowie, Lady Gaga, Manic Street Preachers, Stevie Wonder and many, many more. 4. Gorilla
Eat, drink and be musically merry with an eclectic mix of bands and musicians at Gorilla, Manchester’s industrial live music venue. Located in the railway arches in the heart of the city centre this bar, kitchen and stage combo-platter serves up salivating sounds, fresh food and beat-full beverages seven days a week.
5. Manchester Music Tours
Founded in 2005 by the late Craig Gill, drummer in Manchester Band The Inspiral Carpets, Manchester Music Tours is a must for fans wanting to experience the ‘Madchester’ music scene. Now operated by Craig’s wife, Rose, the tours are centred around Oasis, The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Stone Roses. They also offer private tours, have occasional guest tour guides and much more, Manchester Music Tours is the essential opportunity to learn more about our musically influential city.
