Through her lens: Megan Powell’s journey in camera operating
Megan Powell attended Futureworks from 2016 – 2019 as part of the BA (Hons) Independent Filmmaking course. Whilst completing her degree, she was involved with several productions in the Manchester area and focused her skills in the camera department.
Megan Powell’s journey in camera operating
Thanks to the mentorship of Sarah Strachan and Andrew McKee, during her second and third year on the course Megan flourished as a camera team member, and in 2020 was accepted into the ScreenSkills ACO/BSC Mentor Scheme which led to her becoming a Friend of the ACO.
Since Graduating with a First, Megan has worked as a Second Camera Assistant on several BFI funded short films and Director of Photography on several low budget productions, including the feature film: Here Comes The Duke (currently in post-production). She also worked dailies as a Camera Trainee for Doctor Who.
Megan has pursued her education at a post graduate level and in January 2024 she graduated from the University of South Wales with a Distinction in MA Film (Cinematography).
