Student Services are here to support you throughout your time at Futureworks—from the moment you accept your offer, right through to graduation. If you ever need help, we’re just a message or visit away.
We can help with any non-academic questions or concerns, including disability support, mental health, financial issues, or fee payments. We also take care of enrolment, graduation, Student Partner elections, and some social events.
We offer 1-1 support for students who may be going through anything that’s affecting their time at university. Whether it’s mental health, financial worries, disability support, feeling homesick, or just needing someone to talk to in a safe, confidential space.
Student Services can also offer advice on health concerns, bullying, discrimination, or harassment. If we can’t help directly, we’ll guide you to the right place and talk through your options so you feel supported every step of the way.
You’ll find the Student Advice Centre on Floor 3. We’re open Monday to Friday, 10am–12:30pm and 1:30pm–4:30pm. Feel free to drop in during those times to speak with a member of the team, or get in touch by email using one of the contacts below:

Some of the ways we can help
At Futureworks, we know that life can sometimes be challenging while you’re studying. University is an exciting time, but it can also come with ups and downs.
Adjusting to university life is a big change, and it’s completely normal to need a bit of support along the way. Whether you’re facing personal issues or just need some advice or guidance, we’re here to help you through it.
If you ever feel like you need support, we’re here for you. We offer 1-1 help for anything that might be affecting your time at university. Whether it’s mental health, financial worries, disability support, feeling homesick, or just needing someone to talk to in a safe and confidential space.
You can book a 1-1 support meeting with the Welfare Officer by emailing: support@futureworks.ac.uk.
Futureworks offers a free, in-house counselling service for all students. Life can be challenging at times, and it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed or unsure. Counselling can be a really helpful way to work through difficult moments and get support.
Asking for help is a sign of strength.
Everyone goes through tough times, and needing support is a normal part of being human. While talking to friends or family can help, sometimes it’s easier to speak to someone neutral. Counselling gives you the chance to talk to a trained therapist who will listen without judgment and help you explore your thoughts and feelings. You’ll have space to talk, cry, reflect—or just be.
How to book counselling
If you’re finding things difficult and would like to talk about counselling or have questions about the support available, please contact Student Support by emailing support@futureworks.ac.uk.
What is Counselling?
At Futureworks, we provide talking therapy – you might hear it referred to as counselling, therapy, or psychological support. These terms all describe a space where you can talk openly with a trained professional about whatever’s on your mind.
Counselling gives you regular time to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and confidential environment. It can help you:
- Work through a specific issue
- Process difficult memories or experiences
- Improve relationships
- Develop healthier ways of coping day-to-day
Sessions take place at the Futureworks Riverside building, and no external referrals are needed. While there may be a short waiting list, it’s much quicker than NHS services.
If you’re already on a waiting list elsewhere or thinking about starting counselling, feel free to come and speak to us, we’re here to help and can guide you through your options.
Once students are fully enrolled on their course and are a full-time student at Futureworks, we will not be able to speak to anyone outside Futureworks about the student, their studies or their circumstances unless we have their consent to do so.
This means that for example if a friend, parent, or guardian was to contact us directly and ask about a specific students’ studies, attendance, grades, wellbeing or medical declarations, we would not disclose any information to them, including whether they are a student with us, unless they have told us it is ok.
All Futureworks students are given the opportunity to complete a data protection waiver form and is an entirely optional process. If there is a person that students would like us to be able to speak to, they can fill out a Data Protection Waiver Form. This allows us to speak with a nominated person on their behalf.
Filling out a Data Protection Waiver is entirely optional, but it can be useful especially if they have any support needs which a family member or friend helps them with.
Students should contact Student Services directly to request an electronic version or visit the Student Advice Centre on Floor 3 Riverside to fill out a paper copy.
If you have concerns about a student and their wellbeing, please email support@futureworks.ac.uk and Futureworks will take any necessary steps to ensure we contacted the student directly and offered them support and provided relevant information.
