Futureworks named first Unreal Academic Partner in Manchester

Futureworks has been named the first Unreal Academic Partner in Manchester.

We are so pleased to be able to announce that our Visual Effects, Game Art, Games Design and Game Audio degree courses meet Epic Games’ eligibility criteria, meaning Futureworks has been named as the first Unreal Academic Partner in Manchester.

This allows us to integrate Unreal Engine into the Futureworks curriculum. It’s an amazing feeling to know they are satisfied that our student’s work meets their quality standard.

Unreal Engine is a whole suite of creation tools used in game development. It’s the “world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation tool for photo real visuals and immersive experiences.” We’re so excited to begin implementing it into Futureworks’ curriculum. Our student’s projects are about to move up a level, and we’re anticipating some absolutely amazing work.

We take pride in offering our students as many opportunities as we can. Futureworks students recently rated us above all other UK universities for learning opportunities, teaching quality and feeling like staff have made the subject interesting and challenging.

According to the last NSS results, Futureworks is in the top 3% of universities in the UK for overall satisfaction. Our links to creative companies and tutors actively working in their creative fields helped us to achieve this.

All students studying the aforementioned degree courses will also have their Artstation accounts upgraded to Pro Licence for free.

“We are thrilled to be recognised by Epic Games as an Unreal Engine Academic Partner on 4 of our degree programmes at Futureworks. The hard work from the dedicated teaching team and the outstanding work by our students has meant that we are the first Higher Education provider in Manchester to have that accolade. I’m incredibly proud!” – Ken Lau, Head of School of Art & Design.
