Facilities and Technology
Sound & Music Production

Futureworks is uniquely positioned to offer a broad range of sound and music production facilities, all designed specifically to promote individual development and employability. Our students use recognised and current industry hardware to practice and broaden skillsets as they progress through their courses, resulting in some truly outstanding production work.

Neve VRL Studio

Built around our largest console, a 48 channel Neve VRL, this is one of our most advanced studios. Loaded with software and hardware, the studio is connected to our largest live room. This is often where the biggest productions are realised, where careers begin, and degrees are earned.

SSL Studio

This studio is built around a Solid State Logic (SSL) console, its super-analogue technology provides the precision needed for raw contemporary electronica through to clinical rock productions. It’s an impressive setup, ideal for capturing those deeper tones and impactful drums. The contemporary Barefoot speakers provide unrivalled insight into the production and mixing process.

Audient Studio

This studio is the ideal training ground for the start of the production journey, offering industry level quality and accessibility in equal measure. With access to a large live room, our students are able to develop their production work in a modern acoustically designed space, learning essential studio workflow and project management skills that set them up for the rest of the course.

Avid S6 Cinema Studio

Mixing in our large multichannel surround studio featuring the Avid S6 console is an experience that puts our students on a different level. Adapting and building upon musically focussed production skills, the field of audio post production broadens the horizons of our students, opening up a wide range of creative careers across film, TV and games industries.

“All the studios are amazing, and you can book them any time you want for coursework and independent projects.”

Equipment
Film, Television & Media

The Futureworks School of Film, Television & Media hosts a wide range of industry-standard equipment available for students to use for their coursework, including cameras, lenses, lighting, grip, audio equipment, and the studio itself.

Professional Camera Equipment

From large Blackmagic URSAs to the smaller Blackmagic Pocket Cinema series, great for film production and industry-standard cinematography. We also have a range of Canon DSLR cameras for entry-level film production and documentaries. Coupled with various Canon and Samyang Cine Lenses, Futureworks students use the cameras the pros use starting from year one.

Grip Support

For support, we have various grip styles, from Vario 5 Easyrigs to DJI Ronin S, Indie Dollys, and Hague Sliders. We would be remiss not to mention the impressive Hague Crane. You’d expect to use these types of Grips within a film production studio.

Lighting Options

Incuding the ever popular Arri lights, which have been used for decades on most major film sets worldwide. Our latest addition to our lighting family is the Aputure MC-4 Kit, which is versatile, small, and portable and is now a popular lighting choice for modern filmmakers. Topping off with various LEDs and Rotolights, our students have many options for lighting.

Audio

We have a mix of shotgun and pencil condenser Røde Microphones, Zoom F4 & F6 Field Recorders, very popular with Indie filmmakers, and Sennheiser Radio and Lavalier mics, perfect for wiring up your actors.

“The course allows students to expand not only on their editing skills, but also skills within other aspects of working in post-production – such as audio and VFX. Which I think is vital for going onto the industry.”

Art & Design

At Futureworks’ School of Art and Design, we pride ourselves on having the right equipment to support our students’ creativity and technical skills.

Resources

We have a flexible system where students can book Wacom Cintiqs, light boxes and rostrum cameras when they need to work on projects at Futureworks. Our Facilities Team are always available to assist and provide advice on the equipment.

Additionally, our fantastic library is stocked with essential art, animation and games-related books that are tailored to our students’ needs.

Lastly, the software and hardware required for their disciplines, whether for illustration, animation or games development is maintained to industry standards, allowing students to focus on creativity without issues with technology.

A diverse range of facilities and equipment

Futureworks also boasts five floors of high-specification audio studios, edit suites, dubbing theatres, creative workstations, and computer labs. A diverse range of facilities, equipment and support that provides students with all they need to produce original and creative work.

Dedicated support

Our programmes are designed to equip students with the skills needed to succeed in the competitive world of film and TV production, supported by tutors who bring current industry experience into the classroom.

“What I’d learnt at Futureworks on how to use the software was critical, and what you need to realise is that the skills you gained from using the different programmes can be transferred to other software platforms. For example, what we learnt in Maya can easily be transferred to Blender; it’s just the interface that’s different, but the principles of the software are the same.”
