Applying for a degree course
To apply for a degree course at Futureworks you will need to submit an application via the UCAS system. Applications open each year on 1st September for the following year of study.
Normally, the deadline for applications is January 15th each year. This means that to join a degree course in September 2017 you will need to get your application in between 1st September 2016 and 15th January 2017. Futureworks is happy to accept late applications, however if you want to apply after the January 15th deadline we would advise you to get in touch with our Admissions team first on 0161 214 4600.
Like any university, to apply for a degree course you’ll need a UCAS account. It’s easy to set up your UCAS account and the application form is straight forward. To begin the process go to www.ucas.com/apply and choose the option to apply for an Undergraduate course. Here you will be asked which course you are applying for (a maximum of 5). You’ll also need to add your qualifications, write your personal statement and include your reference.
If you’re unsure what to put in your Personal Statement this Personal Statement Mind Map may be of some help to you.
You’ll need to know the UCAS code for your course in order to apply. These are:-
- BA (Hons) Music Production – WJ39
- BSc (Hons) Audio Engineering and Production – J9W3
- BSc (Hons) Game and Interactive Audio – G2A5
- BA (Hons) Games Design – WG24
- BA (Hons) Game Art – I620

Institution Code & Campus Code
The institution code for Futureworks is ‘C30’ and the campus code is ‘T’. Courses will be listed under University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), as this is our validating University. It’s important that the institution and campus codes are correct otherwise your application may not get to us.
Once we have received your application from UCAS our Admissions department will review it, if you are successful at this stage you will be invited in for an interview. This review considers a combination of your qualifications, Personal Statement and Reference. We will write to you to let you know the outcome of this initial review.
We will write to let you know if you have been been provisionally offered a place on the course and successful candidates are usually required to come to Futureworks for an Applicant’s Day event. We do this so that we can assess your suitability for the course, and also to make sure you’re sure that Futureworks is the right place for you. Your offer may be made on an unconditional basis, or with conditions attached. You’ll need to meet those conditions in order to start the course. Details of your offer are sent to UCAS, so you can check this on your account when you log in.
If your offer requires you to attain certain grades at A-Level (or equivalent) you’ll need to send in proof of these to our Admissions team.
